There's a pill for that!

I quit! Thats right, I quit smoking! Its been well over a month and I feel confidant that I will never again be a smoker. I smoked off and on for years. I enjoyed smoking. I used it as a way to relieve stress, BUT I was in bondage. Which provided a huge conflict for me. I started praying for God to give me a desire to quit. I had heard about Chantix and decided that I was going to ask the doctor for a prescription. I did, and it worked, and I am so thankful! My husband, who is the sweetest husband in the whole world hated that I smoked. Now that I have quit, he keeps telling me how good my hair smells. I love that. My Megan also hated that I smoked. I know she prayed all the time for me to quit. Not only am I free but they are free too.

Cold Case

My entire house is covered in a thin layer of baby powder. The catastrophe happened in the bathroom, but the fine powder has floated into other rooms and has been trapped in the broom which I use all the time. I asked Joshua if he knew what happened, and he said he didnt know. See picture below.
This picture does not do the mess justice. I have been cleaning it up for three days. Does anyone know what happens when you get baby powder wet?

It was in the hallway, my bedroom, Joshuas room, and pretty much everywhere. Later when I asked Joshua if he had fun, he said he did.

Stranger Things Have Happened

Sunday was just like any other Sunday. We went to church, we ate, we came home, we hung out, some of us slept, and then we went to Publix. Totally normal right? So far maybe...after shopping at a place where I must say it is a real pleasure, we are returning home, of course. We turn on to our road and we see this exotic bird standing in the middle of the street. Beautiful bird. Believing that it is someones pet, my husband tells me to get out and make sure it doesnt fly away while he goes and tries to find the owner. WHAT?!?! Did he just ask me to make sure a BIRD doesnt fly away? So I go into the house to get some food or something I can use to keep the bird from flying away. I grab some nuts and head back outside, but I dont see the bird. The bird is not in the street anymore, it is walking across the neighbors driveway towards me. I meet it halfway and put the plate on the ground in front of it, and surprisingly enough it starts eating the nuts. All the while though it is acting like it wants up. Every time I put my hand near the plate it acts like it wants up. Of course I am afraid it was one of those mean birds who will chew my whole hand off so I am cautious, but this bird WANTS up. I put my hand under its belly and it preceds to walk up my arm til it gets to my shoulder where it stays until we find its owner. HOW COOL IS THAT? It was like instant friend. It has to be said that the bird was very loyal, it didnt like Chris. I dont know why that makes me laugh. He tried to hold the bird, but the bird was fine to stay right where it was. We did find the owner and return the bird, but I'll admit that if I was down with stealing other peoples pets I would have kept that bird.

So meet my friend Chole...

Put your money where your mouth is!

Yesterday Washington celebrated the inauguration of President Barack Obama, and I do mean celebrated. With an estimated cost of 170 million dollars, President Obamas inauguration was the most expensive in history. 170 MILLION DOLLARS...HELLO! How much does it cost to drill a well in Africa, I believe through Seeds of Hope it is like 1,500 or 1,700 dollars. How many people is this country face foreclouser, granted it is not the responsibility of the government to bail out private citizens only major corporations and banks. Didnt the man get elected with promises of change, and vowes to stimulate the economy? Didnt he say just yesterday in his speech that countries like ours can no longer ignore the poverty of the world? 170 MILLION DOLLARS...RIDICULOUS! I do know that the 170 million dollars did not come directly out of the Presidents pocket, but I do believe that he had a awesome opportunity to take a stand and show the world and the American people that he does intend to bring about change. I believe that he could have said as President of the United States I can not in good conscience accept such gross overspending on account of my inauguration. I believe he could have directed the money to be spent on a more worthy cause. Up to this point President Obama has done a lot of talking, talk talk talk. I think that the cost of the inauguration was a meaningless waste of money. Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God. Ecclesiastes 5:7 I am not concerned with the color of his skin but the content of his heart.

I will continue to pray for our country. I feel that now more than ever God fearing people need to pray for our country.

Im Not Good at This

From the way that I understand things, a blog is updated on a regular basis. From this understanding I draw the conclusion that inspired the title of this post. Although this is an unfortunate truth, I have resolved to not be a quitter. Now all I have to do is overcome the ever present struggle I have with deciding what I will blog about. New Years resolutions...No. For obvious reasons, I don't want the whole world (ok my one reader) to be waiting for the day when they can hold up a printed copy of this post and say I knew you couldn't do it. I do want to say that this is the first year I am excited about the resolutions I have made. Back to blog. I guess I am going to be lame and leave you with a list...

What I Read in 2008

Forgiven - Karen Kingsbury

Across Five Aprils (homeschool)

Of Mice and Men (I still shake my head in disbelief and wonder why)

Can you Keep a Secret (very funny - some bad language)

Nice Girls Don't Change the World (I have a very huge chance at changing this world)

Jim and Casper go to Church

Alex the Life of a Child (this is not a must read for everyone, it is about a little girl with CF)

The Other Boleyn Girl

Lincoln a photobiography (homeschool - very very good)

The Testament (cant go wrong with Grisham)

90 Minutes in Heaven ( very thankful for this book)

I Became A Christian and all I got was This Lousy T-Shirt (hilarious so so funny)

Blue Like Jazz

The Shack

The Oath (its been months since I read this and I find myself thinking about it often, the longer it marinates the more I like it)

Same Kind of Different as Me (a treasure)

Twilight (I was hooked, but these books don't have staying power, they are very forgettable)

New Moon

Eclipse

Breaking Dawn (best of the series by far, just read this one and the first one and you will be good)

Marley and Me

There is probably one or two that didn't get mentioned, but I think its a good list. Lets see if I can double it in 2009.

Today is Tayler's Birthday

Today is Tayler's birthday, and I am missing her so much. It just doesnt feel right that she is not here on her birthday. My heart is breaking. It is harder today to be happy that she is with Jesus, because I would love nothing more than to take her face between my hands and wish her a happy birthday and kiss her and breath her in. I know she would have been very excited to turn twelve, only one year away from being an official teenager. I wonder what she would have wanted for her birthday. Would she wanted to get dressed up and go somewhere special or would she have wanted to have a party? I more than miss her.

Random Ramblelings

Last Thursday night my hubby and I went to dinner at B.J.s Brew House in Orlando, it was a work thing, Chris' boss took his people out for dinner. It was very nice, good food, and I got to meet some of the people my hubby works with. Anyway, apparently we missed Tiger Woods. He was there picking up some take out while we were leaving. Oh well.

Friday, Celebration to see the snow.

Sat., worked all day shopped all night.

Sun., church, lunch with friends, nap, dinner. Very good day.

Yesterday my dad called.

me:(whisper)hey
my day: sorry, is everyone asleep?
me: no just Joshua, whats up?
my day: its snowing
me: SHUT UP
my dad: no i swear
me: shut up
my day: really its been snowing all day

So I am really happy for my dad and all my family that lives in Las Vegas, they are getting an early Christmas present for sure. I remember the snow growing up, and I would love for my kids to be able to enjoy it.

Mon., lots of laundry, lots of school. Good day.

Tues., I had the brilliant plan to walk to Publix. I had to get some milk and some stamps and light bulbs nothing that couldnt wait for Chris to get home, but it was a nice day and I figured a walk would be nice. What I didnt figure was how far it was, and how much the wagon would weigh after I loaded Emily and Joshua into it. We went to McDonald's for lunch and then went on to Publix. It was a nice walk. Did some more laundry and some more school. Emily is doing so good.

My top three favorite Christmas gifts
1. my digital camera
2. my dyson vacuum cleaner
3. my sony under the counter c.d. radio. I use this all the time. Every time I am in the kitchen cooking or cleaning I have it on.

Taylers birthday is on Thursday. We are going to have a little party at my dad and Suzannes.
I miss her so much it hurts. I have been thinking about her past birthdays, the surprise party, the party at the bowling alley, and the family parties. She will be parting with Jesus this year.
